Enrichment Class – Wild Edibles and Herbals
July 31 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The Village of Whitehouse is happy to announce a partnership with Metroparks Toledo for monthly Adult Enrichment Classes. A wide variety of topics have been scheduled for the upcoming months. All classes are free and open to the public and will be held at Whitehouse Village Hall, 6925 Providence Street.
July 31: 7:30 – 9 pm. Wild Edibles and Herbals Walk. On this walk, Metroparks naturalists will help you identify the many common plants and shrubs found around your home that can be harvested as healthy and nutritious additions to more typical, store-bought foods and supplements.
August 28: 7:30 – 9 pm. Bats, Owls and Night Singing Insects. This season is great for an outdoor, evening exploration that includes bat-detecting, owl-calling and listening to the myriad of calls from Katydids and their relatives.
September 25: 6:30 – 8. Whitehouse Geology and Fossils of the Quarry. The Whitehouse Village grounds have some of the best examples in the county of glacial striations, local fossils and exposed bedrock.
October 30: 6:30 – 8 pm. Halloween Moonlight Hike. Halloween folklore and related night-time natural phenomena will be the focus of this after-hours adult adventure.
November 27: 6:30 – 8 pm. Winter Birds and Bird-feeding. This indoor presentation will highlight birds seen in our area in winter, and how you can attract them.
Classes are free with limited space. Advance registration is required by calling 419-877-5383 to ensure a comfortable meeting space and to have handouts prepared. Classes are held at Whitehouse Village Hall, 6925 Providence Street.
