As a special treat for the next two weeks at the Farmers Market, rain barrels from the Maumee River Rain Barrel Blitz will be on display. This competition was hosted by the Toledo Lucas County Rain Garden Initiative (RGI) and taught scouts and other youth groups about the river and how we can help protect its water quality.
The groups investigate the theme for each year’s Blitz then work together to design and create rain barrels. The 2017 theme was “Every Drop Counts!”
This year’s competition included 12 youth groups with more than 150 kids participating. Barrels were displayed and judged at the Toledo Botanical Garden’s Crosby Festival of the Arts.
Vendors at the market will be selling fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers, plants and hanging baskets, jewelry, essential oils, baked goods, pure maple syrup, salsa, garden fossils, art, tea, soap, local honey, lip balm, wood burned signs, and chair massages!
Shop the market, play in the park, eat breakfast or lunch, and enjoy downtown Whitehouse on Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
