We Are Whitehouse – Chatting with Deputy Chief Allan Baer of the Whitehouse Police Department

Give us a quick introduction. When did you start working for Whitehouse and what does your job entail?

I was hired by Whitehouse Police on August 13th, 2018 as the Deputy Chief of Police. I serve as the second in command of the police department and I assume the duties and responsibilities of the Chief of Police in his absence. My daily role is to oversee Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Property Management, Training, Policy Development and Support Services, such as the Administrative Secretary and Crossing Guards.

Where might we see you around the Village?

I often provide field support of officers while they are handling calls for service or responding to emergencies. I will be visible at most special events like races, parades, festivals and sporting events. Otherwise, I can be found in my office.

Do you have any family members or pets?
I have 3 grown daughters, Ashley, Sarah and Emily….. no pets.
What is one of your all-time favorite movies?
Anything starring John Wayne. I have 44 of his movies in my collection.
What about a favorite musical artist/band/genre?
Currently it is Heavy Metal….specifically “Five Finger Death Punch”.
What is something you get to witness within your job that others might not normally get to see or might be unaware of?
As a Police Officer we respond to calls for service that can be shocking to the senses and often the type or nature is not normally witnessed in the average citizen’s experiences.
Favorite location/spot in the Whitehouse area?
I have always thought that the view of the quarry from inside the Village Hall Council Chambers is gorgeous.
Tell us about a unique or surprise talent you possess.
I can literally bake any dish or make any type of food. Cooking is a passion.
You can take a trip to anywhere in the world – where do you go?
Santorini – A Greek Isle in the southern Aegean….. about 120 miles from Greece.
Favorite Color?
Grey…… I love the myriad of shades that the color grey offers.
Favorite season/time of the year?
I really like Christmas time in Ohio.
Can you leave us with a fun fact or a piece of advice?
My homemade banana bread is so good I have received marriage proposals.
